REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SALARY: Per NC State Salary Schedule for Principals
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
The principal of Tulls Creek Elementary School will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of the school’s culture, programs, and community. This position entails leading the planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of the school’s operations, including hiring staff, aligning school practices with established policies, and utilizing existing curriculum resources to support the needs of diverse learners. The principal will collaborate with district leadership and stakeholders to ensure the school is equipped with modern facilities and resources and staffed with highly qualified personnel. Additionally, they will build strong relationships with families and community partners to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This leadership role requires vision, adaptability, and the ability to inspire a team dedicated to creating a thriving educational experience from day one.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate NC Licensure from the NC Department of Public Instruction
- Minimum of 3 years of school administration experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years successful teaching experience
- Demonstrated effective leadership, public relations, and administrative skills
- Strong instructional background and knowledge of curriculum
- Demonstrated effective skills in conflict management resolution
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community at large
- Commitment to high achievement for all students
- Positive role model both professionally and personally
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and supervises the instructional program of the school
- Leads and facilitates a participatory process to develop and supervise school goals
- Uses data to inform decision making processes
- Adheres to ethical standards of the education profession, abiding by laws, policies and procedures that govern the schools and demonstrates high personal ethical standards both inside and outside the school environment
- Develops and communicates a shared vision and mission for the school
- Develops a strategic plan for improving instruction based on data and using a facilitative process that involves all stakeholders
- Defines and disseminates information about school policies and procedures to parents, students, staff, and community
- Utilizes financial, human, and time resources in an efficient and effective manner
- Ensures faculty and staff evaluations are completed in an efficient and timely manner
- Develops and executes processes and systems for budgeting, staffing, problem solving, and communicating expectations
- Designs and structures processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND DISPOSITIONS:
- Knowledge of current research on teaching, learning, and leadership
- Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others
- Ability/willingness to work a daily schedule that could demand an extended workday
- Behave as a positive role model both professionally and personally
