Position Overview
Currituck County Schools is seeking a dedicated and innovative Technology Technician I / Instructional Technology Facilitator to support staff and students across all schools in our district. This dual-role position will focus on integrating instructional technology into the curriculum and providing technical support to ensure seamless use of technology resources. The ideal candidate will be passionate about enhancing teaching and learning through technology while maintaining a reliable and secure technology infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Technician I
- Provide technical support to staff and students, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Assist in the setup, maintenance, and repair of technology equipment, including Chromebooks, laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, webcams, projectors, doc cams, iPads, and Promethean boards.
- Manage and support the use of school devices, ensuring they are updated, functional, and secure.
- Collaborate with the district's IT department to implement network and security protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of technology inventory, repairs, and support requests.
- Ensure compliance with district and state technology policies and guidelines.
Instructional Technology Facilitator
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate technology into classroom instruction, aligning with district goals and North Carolina education standards.
- Provide professional development and training sessions on instructional technology tools and best practices.
- Support the implementation of digital learning initiatives and assist in developing instructional resources.
- Facilitate the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital tools, and educational software.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance teaching and learning.
- Provide classroom support for technology integration and model effective instructional strategies.
Knowledge and Skills (Not all-inclusive)
- Strong knowledge of hardware and software used in educational and administrative settings.
- General knowledge of network operations, including Windows 10 & 11, ChromeOS, and Microsoft Active Directory.
- Understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer principles as applied to the installation, repair, and maintenance of hardware and software in educational environments.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to assist users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and compliance with regulations such as CIPA, FERPA, and other data privacy standards.
- General understanding of Google Suite for Education and its applications in a K-12 setting.
Abilities (Not all-inclusive)
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
- Lift, carry, pack, or unpack hardware, sometimes weighing up to [50 pounds].
- Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and stakeholders at all levels of technology expertise.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and district personnel.
- Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
Requirements
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, as this position requires movement between buildings.
- Must have a smartphone for use during work hours (monthly reimbursement provided).
Qualifications
- Education:
- NC Teacher Licensure
- 18079 Special Endorsement in Computer Education or 18077 Instructional Technology Specialist Computers
- Experience:
- Experience in instructional technology integration in a K-12 environment preferred.
- Technical support experience in educational or similar settings preferred.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, 10-month position, following the Board of Education-approved teacher calendar.
- Travel between schools in the district is required.
Salary & Benefits
Salary is based on the North Carolina Public School System pay scale and commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid leave as per district policy.
