Job Summary: The Teacher Assistant supports classroom instruction and contributes to a positive learning environment for students. This role involves assisting the teacher in managing classroom activities, providing individualized support to students, and fostering an inclusive atmosphere.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support: Assist the teacher in delivering lesson plans and instructional materials. Provide support to students during classroom activities and lessons.

  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement in classroom activities.

  • Behavior Management: Help maintain classroom discipline and manage student behavior, reinforcing appropriate conduct.

  • Individual Support: Provide individualized support to students with varying needs, including those with special education requirements.

  • Assessment Assistance: Assist in the assessment and monitoring of student progress, including grading assignments and recording grades.

  • Classroom Organization: Help maintain an organized and clean classroom environment, including preparing materials and setting up learning stations.

  • Communication: Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to communicate student progress and any concerns.

  • Supervision: Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods to ensure safety and compliance with school policies.

  • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and effectiveness in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or 48 college credit hours.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
  • Capacity to engage in physical activities associated with supervising students.
